2018 OnCourse Identity
Client: Texas OnCourse at University of Texas
Objectives: Branding Identity | Digital Marketing
In 2015, the Texas State Legislature passed Texas House Bill 18. This bill charged the University of Texas at Austin with creating resources for educators, students, and families. Its objective was to help students better plan for success after high school, starting in middle school. The result of this effort is Texas OnCourse, the state’s definitive source for college and career planning.
I was brought aboard originally to help make the brand more cohesive. We discovered the organization’s identity needed to be refreshed. Its previous brand alienated core groups of their demographic. We realized that the old grad cap left out all the other options for post-secondary educational and career avenues.
I worked closely with the Assistant Director of Marketing & Communications to create an identity that was not only more universal in audience scope, but that reflects a more digital image as most of their assets live online. We did this all while refreshing the entire org site while I Art Directed the UX designers to coordinate instep with the emerging brand.
The result, an amalgamation of a Geotag and Compass to represent a starting point and attainable destination. The mark attains inclusiveness with a modern digital experience.
